English

Subject field(s)
  • Cement Industry
  • Man-Made Construction Materials
  • Types of Concrete
CONT

Carbonatable calcium silicate cement (CSC) is a promising approach to reducing the carbon footprint associated with concrete production. Carbonatable CSC gains strength by reacting with carbon dioxide (CO2).

CONT

Calcium silicate-based cements (CSC), including mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA), are self-setting hydraulic cements. The powder of CSC is composed mainly of dicalcium and tricalcium silicate.

OBS

An anti-caking agent for baking powder and table salt. Available as a white or whitish amorphous powder with a density of 2.9.

OBS

... three silicates of calcium: tricalcium silicate ...; dicalcium silicate ...; calcium metasilicate ...

DEF

Record 5 2011-05-16

English

Subject field(s)
  • Man-Made Construction Materials
DEF

Light-gray brick, made from a mixture of sand and lime, molded under pressure and cured with steam.

OBS

Because of their relatively high strength, these mixes are not to be used with sand-lime brick or concrete brick, since this could result in cracking of the masonry units, except that a mix incorporating 1 part of masonry cement to 3 parts of aggregate by volume is permitted in addition to the lower strength mixes shown.

Key term(s)
  • silico-lime brick

French

Domaine(s)
  • Matériaux de construction artificiels
DEF

Spanish

Campo(s) temático(s)
