Cápsula, membrana o teca del corazón; bolsa cardíaca; membrana fibroserosa que consta de mesotelio y tejido conjuntivo submesotelial y cubre el corazón y el de los grandes vasos. Es una bolsa cerrada que tiene dos capas: la capa visceral o epicardio, que rodea inmediatamente el corazón, y la capa parietal externa, que forma la bolsa y se compone de tejido fibroso fuerte (pericardio fibroso) tapizado por una membrana serosa (pericardio seroso). El nervio frénico divide al pericardio en una parte antefrénica y otra retrofrénica; el hilio del pulmón divide a su vez a cada una de estas partes en una porción suprahiliar, una hiliar y una infrahiliar.
