CARBON PARTICULATE [3 records]

Record 1 2020-09-17

English

Subject field(s)
  • Chemistry
  • Oceanography
CONT

The dynamics of the particulate organic carbon (POC) pool in the ocean are central to the marine carbon cycle. POC is the link between surface primary production, the deep ocean, and sediments. The rate at which POC is degraded in the dark ocean can impact atmospheric CO² concentration.

CONT

soot: Carbon particulate matter, the product of incomplete combustion. Soot is made of very finely divided carbon particles clustered together into long chains.

CONT

Where carbonaceous material is present, sulphides fill wood cells or replace cell walls.

DEF

Matière qui contient du carbone.

CONT

CONT

soot. Carbon particulate matter, the product of incomplete combustion. Soot is made of very finely divided carbon particles clustered together into long chains.

OBS

Not to be confused with "soot" which is made of carbon particles.

OBS

"Carbonous" means also "containing carbon"; this sense is especially found in botany.

CONT

Suies.
