COLINEARITY [3 records]

Record 1 2013-11-15

English

Subject field(s)
  • Genetics
DEF

In genetics, the property that describes the linear relationship between the units of triplet sequence of nucleotides in DNA (or in RNA transcribed from it) and the corresponding sequence of amino acids in the polypeptide chain. However, some stretches of DNA molecules may not code for any peptide, and the final assembly of messenger RNA and DNA in higher organisms may require a considerable amount of processing, namely, deletion and splicing of selected segments.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Génétique
DEF

Record 3 1999-02-03

English

Subject field(s)
  • Genetics
CONT

One of the most important discoveries that Lewis made was that the genes at the beginning of these complexes control the most anterior body segments, whereas genes further down the genetic map control progressively posterior segments. This is the colinearity principle.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Génétique
DEF
