The Domestic Dairy Product Innovation Program (DDPIP) was designed to grant flexibility to the National Milk Marketing Plan by providing a mechanism whereby those who wish to produce new and innovative dairy products (as defined in the CDC Act) can access the milk they need outside of existing provincial plant supply allocations. By encouraging such new development, the overall demand for milk is expected to increase. It is important to note that butter is not an eligible dairy product for the program.

Le Programme d'innovation en matière de produits laitiers (PIMPL) a été créé pour ajouter de la souplesse au Plan national de commercialisation du lait grâce à un mécanisme permettant l'approvisionnement en lait des entreprises qui veulent lancer des produits laitiers (tel que définis dans la Loi de la CCL) nouveaux et novateurs. Elles peuvent le faire en obtenant le lait nécessaire en marge des allocations d'usines provinciales existantes. L'appui envers ces initiatives permet d'accroître la demande pour le lait sur le marché intérieur. Il est important de noter que le beurre n'est pas un produit laitier admissible à ce programme.
