The Dakota Ojibway Tribal Council has provided a variety of services to its member First Nations that have gone beyond what are expected relating to an advisory function. Dakota Ojibway Tribal Council Mission - to facilitate in the transfer of local control and responsibility of programs and services to member bands as expressed in the following passage: We, the Tribal Council, wish to establish our own over-all policies and strategies for our activities, in harmony with the aspirations of our people. We, the Tribal Council, are clearly saying that we wish to accept the responsibility of our areas as a step further promoting local government and the eventual self-determination and independence of our people.
