Carbon monoxide is formed through incomplete oxidation of carbon. It has a 5-month residence time in the atmosphere, where its concentration is increasing from 0.8% to 1.5% per year. About three-quarters of the present global emission of 1 billion metric tons of carbon as carbon monoxide results from human activity. Forest clearing in the tropics accounts for about 15% (160 million metric tons), and the burning of savanna for agricultural purposes adds another 10% ... Moist snow means snow at 0°C. The water content in moist snow is less than 3% by volume. Water is not visible with a hand lens. The snow has a distinct tendency to stick together when pressed to form a snowball. 3, record 12, English, - moist%20snow
Record number: 12, Textual support number: 2 CONT
Damp snow usually occurs when the temperature is around 0°C. Damp snow sticks to the road surface and is compacted by traffic. If there is a partial thaw, traffic creates ruts in the compacted snow. When it freezes again, "rails of ice" are formed, making the road impassable. This phenomenon is easy to detect. Snow falls in large flakes and crunches underfoot or under the tyres. 4, record 12, English, - moist%20snow

Three main systems of methane drainage have been developed: (1) the cross-measure borehole method which consists of boring holes from 2¼ to 3¼ inches in diameter and 150 to 300 feet in length, into the strata above or below the seam, generally close to the working face. This method has the advantage of being suited to a wide variety of conditions and does not require another seam within reasonable distance above or below the seam to be drained, or the use of solid stowing; (2) the superjacent roadway system in which boreholes are drilled from a roadway situated above the seam being worked, the drainage of the methane then taking place from this roadway; and (3) the pack cavity system in which corridors are left and supported in the goaf as the face advances, and from these firedamp is drawn off. 1, record 20, English, - methane%20drainage
