EPSTEIN-BARR VIRUS [4 records]

Record 1 2021-12-20

English

Subject field(s)
  • Microbiology and Parasitology
  • Molecular Biology
CONT

Two transcription factors, ZEBRA and Rta, switch Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) from the latent to the lytic state. While ZEBRA also plays an obligatory role as an activator of replication, it is not known whether Rta is directly required for replication.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Microbiologie et parasitologie
  • Biologie moléculaire
CONT

OBS

ZEBRA : de l'anglais «Z Epstein-Barr replication activator».

Record 2 2014-09-18

English

Subject field(s)
  • Microbiology and Parasitology
DEF

A herpes virus which is the major cause of infectious mononucleosis and a common subclinical illness in children and young adults which is characterized by seroconversion to the virus, and which is associated with Burkitt's lymphoma, nasopharyngeal carcinoma, some B-cell lymphomas in immunosuppressed or immunodeficient persons, and a usually fatal progressive combined variable immunodeficiency.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Microbiologie et parasitologie
DEF

Key term(s)
  • virus de Epstein Barr

Record 3 1998-05-27

English

Subject field(s)
  • Immunology
OBS

The discovery of virus-associated proteins in two human tumors has provided strong circumstantial evidence for a link between the Epstein-Barr virus and cancer in man. The majority of virus-infected lymphocytes do not yield progeny virus particles but do express a viral antigen in the cell nucleus called the Epstein-Barr nuclear antigen (EBNA).

Domaine(s)
  • Immunologie
DEF

English

Subject field(s)
  • Immunology
DEF

X-linked immunodeficiency with undue susceptibility to Epstein-Barr virus.

DEF

A rare disease of apparently immunologically normal males who, upon first infection with Epstein-Barr virus, develop fulminating infectious mononucleosis, agammaglobulinemia, or B-cell lymphoma, or bone-marrow aplasia. It shows the inheritance characteristic of X chromosome genetic defects.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Immunologie
CONT
