In 1989, the CF was directed by a Canadian Human Rights Tribunal to remove gender-based employment barriers and to achieve the complete integration of women into all occupations and employment areas within ten years. In response to this direction, a wide range of initiatives has been undertaken at both the Corporate and Command levels.

En 1989, le Tribunal canadien des droits de la personne a enjoint aux FC d'éliminer les obstacles à l'emploi fondés sur le sexe et d'intégrer pleinement les femmes dans tous les secteurs d'emploi et à toutes les occupations, et ce, dans un délai de dix ans. À la suite de cette décision, une vaste gamme de mesures ont été prises tant au niveau du QGDN qu'au niveau des commandements.
