The oxygen sensor (also known as an O2 sensor, lambda sensor, or EGO sensor) is one of the most critical sensors on a fuel-injected engine. It resembles a spark plug and is located in the exhaust manifold between the turbo and catalytic converter. When at operating temperature it becomes a miniature battery which generates a voltage based on the differential between the oxygen content of the exhaust gas and the oxygen content of the ambient air. By this method it measures the amount of oxygen in the exhaust stream, allowing the ECM to compensate to some degree for various fuel grades, engine wear, altitude changes, usage of oxygenated fuel, and more. Another big benefit is the ability to keep emissions of carbon monoxide, oxides of nitrogen, and unburned hydrocarbons as low as possible.

Le dosage optimum (14.7 kg d'air pour 1 kg de carburant) correspond à l'indice 1 d'un coefficient arbitrairement choisi, appelé Lambda; ce mélange est aussi appelé stœchiométrique. Ce capteur est relié au calculateur (ECU), et renseigne en permanence ce dernier sur la proportion de dioxygène (O2) à l'issue de la combustion du mélange air/essence. Si le mélange est pauvre, le dioxygène est en excès et vis versa.

Lambda cyhalothrin is a synthetic pyrethroid insecticide and acaricide used to control a wide range of pests in a variety of applications. Pests controlled include aphids, Colorado beetles and butterfly larvae. Crops on which it may be applied include cotton, cereals, hops, ornamentals, potatoes, vegetables or others. It may also be used for structural pest management or in public health applications to control insects such as cockroaches, mosquitoes, ticks and flies which may act as disease vectors.

Some viruses may remain dormant inside host cells for long periods, causing no obvious change in their host cells (a stage known as the lysogenic phase). But when a dormant virus is stimulated, it enters the lytic phase: new viruses are formed, [they] self-assemble, and burst out of the host cell, killing the cell and going on to infect other cells. The diagram below at right shows a virus that attacks bacteria, known as the lambda bacteriophage, which measures roughly 200 nanometers.

Lambda switching (sometimes called photonic switching, or wavelength switching) is the technology used in optical networking to switch individual wavelengths of light onto separate paths for specific routing of information. In conjunction with technologies such as dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) - which enables 80 or more separate light wavelengths to be transmitted on a single optical fiber - lambda switching enables a light path to behave like a virtual circuit.
