MOTION COMPENSATION [9 records]

Record 1 2023-02-01

English

Subject field(s)
  • Spacecraft
CONT

GOES-9, a three axis stabilized spacecraft, remains stationary in space which allows the [imager and sounder] instruments to be continuously pointed at the earth. The scanning system moves back and forth (i.e., east to west and then west to east) as it moves north to south. While the spacecraft is stationary, it is not absolutely still. Earth location and registration accuracy are [affected] by orbital motions, instrument motion, and thermal distortion. A complicated set of navigation (earth location) and registration (image-to-image location of a landmark) correction schemes are necessary to compensate for these effects. ... The registration schemes briefly are: 1) image motion compensation (IMC) and 2) mirror motion compensation (MMC). The IMC removes spacecraft orbit and attitude motion from each image. The MMC automatically corrects for the predictable effects of the instrument mirror motions.

DEF

An adjustment done to remove platform motion effects.

OBS

These compensating measures are related to the sensing system and/or the recorded data. They include rotation, translation and along-track velocity variations.

OBS

motion compensation: term officially approved by the RADARSAT-2 Terminology Approval Group (RTAG).

DEF

Ajustement visant à éliminer les effets liés au mouvement de la plateforme.

OBS

Les effets de compensation du système de détection ou des données enregistrées portent sur les paramètres tels la rotation, la translation et les variations de vitesse d'orbite.

OBS

DEF

The use of motion vectors to improve the efficiency of the prediction of pixel values.

OBS

The prediction uses motion vectors to provide offsets into the past and/or future reference pictures containing previously decoded pixel values that are used to form the prediction error signal.
