Subject field(s)
  • Plant Diseases
DEF

Plant disease caused by Verticillium dahliae Kleb. or Verticillium dahliae.

OBS

[Is considered] by some a synonym of V. albo-atrum and by others as a distinct species.

OBS

A severe fungus disease of alfalfa.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Maladies des plantes
DEF

OBS

Agentes causales: Verticillium albu-atrum y V. dahliae.

Record 5 2001-11-20

English

Subject field(s)
  • Pulp Preparation (papermaking)
DEF

A random uneven appearance in the print density, colour or gloss of a print.

OBS

It is coarser than print graininess. It may be caused by printing roughness and point-to-point differences of the paper surface as regards its ability to accept and absorb ink, factors sometimes related to paper mottle or to poorly ground ink components.

OBS

A type of print roughness.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Préparation de la pâte à papier
DEF

English

Subject field(s)
  • Plant Diseases
CONT

Rice yellow mottle virus (RYMV) causes serious disease in lowland and irrigated rice systems in West and East Africa resulting in loss of yield and sometimes total crop failure. Intensive agriculture has caused the disease to spread and increase in incidence.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Maladies des plantes
CONT

English

Subject field(s)
  • Plant Diseases
CONT

Peanut mottle virus (PMV) was first discovered as the causal agent of a mottle disease of peanut in 1961. Since then, the virus has occurred in all major peanut-producing areas of the world... A mild mottle is caused by the mottle virus (PMV) on the youngest peanut leaves (Plates 80). The light and dark green areas can be observed most easily by transmitted light. Frequently, leaflet margins curl upward, causing a cupping appearance.

OBS

PMV is a member of the potyvirus group whose origins are unknown, but its widespread distribution is probably the result of seed transmission and symptoms that are frequently undetected.
