Record 2 2012-02-08

English

Subject field(s)
  • Blood
DEF

Method of determining what percentages of neutrophils in a population have each number of nuclear lobes or segments between one and five; normally over 75 per cent should have two or three lobes. An increase in the percentages with fewer lobes, called a shift to the left, is seen in bacterial infections, whereas an increased number with hypersegmentation of the nuclei, called a shift to the right, is seen in cobalamin and folate deficiency.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Sang
DEF

Record 3 2005-04-05

English

Subject field(s)
  • Blood
DEF

A mature granular leukocyte that is polymorphonuclear (its nucleus having three to five lobes connected by slender threads of chromatin, and cytoplasm containing fine granules).

Key term(s)
  • neutrophile

French

Domaine(s)
  • Sang
DEF

Spanish

Campo(s) temático(s)
  • Sangre
DEF

Leucocito de gran importancia encargado de combatir bacterias, virus y hongos.

Record 4 2004-12-13

English

Subject field(s)
  • Cytology
  • Blood
DEF

Any cell of granulocytic (leukocytic) series in which the nucleus is elongated in the form of a curved or coiled band, but not segmented into distinct lobes as the mature polymorphonuclear neutrophil.

CONT

Band neutrophils are intermediate in maturation between metamyelocytes and mature neutrophils.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Cytologie
  • Sang
CONT

OBS

stabs: Expression tirée d'un mot allemand signifiant "bâton".

CONT

Identification of submitted mycobacterial species by the following test: (NAP) susceptibility.

OBS

Tiré du document intitulé: Bureau of Microbiology- Guide to laboratory Services, 96-09-04, produit par le ministère de la Santé du Canada.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Microbiologie et parasitologie
DEF

Subject field(s)
  • Immunology
DEF

A poorly characterized chemotactic factor, molecular weight approximately 750,000 that attracts neutrophils but not eosinophils or monocytes and is released by basophils or mast cells in immediate hypersensitivity reactions.

CONT

... cascades of evoked mediators may well include molecules such as leukotriene B4(LTB4) (or even C5 fragments), i.e. neutrophil chemoattractants more usually associated with type II or type III allergic reactions or non-specific tissue injury.
