Cuirs. Amincir régulièrement une pièce de cuir de peausserie ou d'autre matériau sur un de ses bords ou sur la totalité de sa surface, afin de faciliter une opération ultérieure (couture, rembourrage, collage, pliage, etc.) dans la confection d'un objet tel que chaussure, gant, vêtement, article de maroquinerie, sellerie, gainerie, etc.

Le parage peut se faire à la main à l'aide d'un couteau à parer ou d'une pierre à parer, ou à la machine (pareuse). On fait aussi du parage par négatif, basé sur le principe de la machine à refendre. On distingue divers types de parages courants : en plein, en biseau et en gorge.
