Subject field(s)
  • Artificial Intelligence
DEF

An approach to categorizing objects. A template is a series of numbers generated during feature extraction. Each number is located and obtained separately. When a new object is sensed, it is compared feature by feature with the template object in the computer memory. The object would have to match exactly the features in the template a given number of times to be categorized as a match with the template object. Template matching has been found useful with objects, such as typed letters, that are limited in variety.

Domaine(s)
  • Intelligence artificielle
DEF

Subject field(s)
  • Remote Sensing

DEF

A procedure of binarization of an image by segmenting it to black and white regions (represented by ones and zeroes). The gray level of each pixel is compared to a threshold value and then set to 0 or 1 so that binary image analysis can then be performed.

OBS

thresholding: term officially approved by the RADARSAT-2 Terminology Approval Group (RTAG).

DEF

A scene-segmentation process based on converting a gray-scale image into a binary image by reassigning pixel gray levels to only two values. [ISO/IEC JTC N1746, 1995]

OBS

Contrast with scene thresholding.

DEF

A function that converts the summation of input activation into output activation.

CONT

This function typically falls into one of three categories: linear, threshold or sigmoid. ... For threshold units, the output is set at one of two levels, depending on whether the total input is greater than or less than some threshold value.

  • Simulation (Systèmes cybernétiques)
CONT
