For a curler, to deliver a rock that comes to rest outside the imaginary line to the designated target, between the skip's broom or brush and the side line; to deliver rocks that tend in that direction.

OBS

A "wide rock" is delivered between the skip's broom and the side line of the sheet; a "narrow rock" is delivered between the skip's broom and the house or the centre line.

OBS

The term "outside" refers to the part of a playing area farthest from the middle; it thus means, for a curling sheet, any area close to one of the side lines.

Antonym: pinch the broom, pinch the brush; be narrow on a shot; throw a rock narrow.

Each player delivers two stones, alternately with his opponent, from one end of the playing area to a target about 42 yards away.

OBS

The technical term is "deliver": it bears all the efficiency needed to position a rock on the intended target. The words "throw" and "pull" express more force and vigour than the conjugated strength and precision needed to place a rock on the targeted spot.

Le curling étant un jeu d'adresse, le terme «tirer» est plutôt rustre pour désigner le lancer de la pierre qui se veut toujours un geste contenu et précis, parfois en puissance mais souvent en retenue.
