Production of onco-fetal antigens - many tumours bear new antigens not found on normal host cells. These antigens are known by several names as tumour specific antigens (TSA), tumour specific transplantation antigen (TSTA), or tumour associated transplantation antigens (TATA).

Obtention de lymphocytes T cytotoxiques spécifiques des cellules B tumorales. Les cellules B des lymphomes expriment une immunoglobuline dont les parties variables sont uniques, c'est-à-dire différentes de celles des autres immunoglobulines dans le répertoire B. Cette propriété fait de l'immunoglobuline, et plus précisément de l'idiotype, un antigène spécifique de tumeur.

Lorsqu'un animal a été préalablement immunisé contre une tumeur donnée (par transplantation d'une tumeur puis résection), la transplantation de cette même tumeur aboutit à un rejet du greffon tumoral. C'est ce type d'expériences qui a permis de définir un grand nombre d'antigènes de transplantation tumeur spécifique (TSTA = tumor specific transplantation antigen).
