Ensemble de production d'électricité constitué d'une turbine à vapeur et d'un alternateur sur le même arbre.

OBS

La turbine, entraînée par la détente de la vapeur du circuit secondaire, est composée d'un corps haute pression (HP) et de plusieurs corps basse pression (BP). L'alternateur fournit le courant électrique, qui est dirigé sur le réseau de transport. Quand on parle d'une centrale «900 mégawatts» (MW) ou de «1300 MW», on se réfère à la puissance électrique disponible en sortie de l'alternateur.
