Le pouvoir isolant de la fibre de polyester va dépendre de deux facteurs : l'importance du grammage et la présence ou non de canaux à l'intérieur de la fibre qui facilite la circulation de l'air à l'intérieur du garnissage et augmente donc le pouvoir isolant. Plus le nombre de canaux internes est élevé, plus on peut limiter le grammage de façon à diminuer le volume et le poids du sac de couchage.
