The overall purpose of this program is to provide work experience to out-of-school and unemployed youth. Participants improve their job skills and future employment prospects while contributing to their communities. The primary target audience for this program are First Nations and Inuit youth between the ages of sixteen [and] twenty-four and who are out of work and out of school.

Dans les appellations officielles, ce terme peut être orthographié différemment. Il faut alors respecter la graphie utilisée même si elle n'est pas conforme à cette recommandation.

OBS

Federal Student Work Experience Program (FSWEP) is the primary vehicle through which federal government departments and agencies recruit students. This program, established in 1990, provides some 8,000 students a year with temporary jobs in different federal departments and agencies. The core of the program is a computerized national inventory of students seeking a job with the federal public service. This inventory is managed by the Public Service Commission (PSC) of Canada, the agency that administers various federal government staffing programs.

Le Programme fédéral d'expérience de travail étudiant (PFETE) est le moyen principal par lequel les ministères et organismes du gouvernement fédéral recrutent des étudiantes et étudiants. Ce programme, établi en 1990, permet chaque année à environ 8 000 étudiantes et étudiants de se trouver un emploi temporaire au sein des ministères et organismes fédéraux. Le programme s'articule autour d'un répertoire national informatisé où sont inscrits les étudiants et étudiantes sollicitant un emploi à la fonction publique fédérale. Ce répertoire est géré par la Commission de la fonction publique du Canada (CFP), organisme qui administre différents programmes de dotation à l'échelon fédéral.

The Technical Work Experience Program, subsidized by Human Resources Development Canada and Computers for Schools of Industry Canada, is an extension of the Computers for Schools initiative. In its expanded form, the program will provide 100 000 computers to schools by the end of the 1998-99 fiscal year, and an opportunity for young Canadians to get hands-on experience working with the technology.
