Le titrage d'un fil consiste à lui donner un numéro qui indique sa grosseur [...] Titrage d'un fil de coton ou de lin. Le poids de fil est fixe et la longueur variable donnera le numéro c'est-à-dire que le numéro du fil indiquera le nombre de kilomètres de fils réalisés dans 1 kg de matière textile. Exemple: Les fils de coton contenus dans 1 kg peuvent mesurer suivant leur grosseur: 36 km (fil no 36); 60 km (fil no 60); 100 km (fil no 100).
