CENTROMERO [3 records]

Record 1 2013-09-19

English

Subject field(s)
  • Genetics
DEF

An inversion that is entirely within one arm of a chromosome, does not include the centromere.

CONT

When the two breaks occur within the same arm, the break point more proximal to the centromere is specified first; for example, inv (2) (p 13 p 23) defines a paracentric inversion in the short arm of chromosome no 2 with break points in bands 2 p 13 and 2 p 23.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Génétique
DEF

English

Subject field(s)
  • Genetics
OBS

In genetics, an inversion that involves the centromere.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Génétique
CONT

Record 3 2007-08-08

English

Subject field(s)
  • Genetics
CONT

Human artificial chromosomes (HAC) have been considered as a possible vector for human gene therapy. In our previous work a minichromosome (MC), isolated from a patient, was transformed with a selectable marker gene (neo) which was targeted into its centromere; the MC was then size reduced, by X-ray exposure, to be easily manipulated and further engineered. The method developed for gene targeting, based on the use of chromosome specific centromeric satellite DNA as transfection carrier, is highly efficient and reproducible.

Domaine(s)
  • Génétique
CONT
