A small, shell-like, bowl-shaped glass or plastic lens that rests directly on the eye, in contact with the cornea or the sclera or both, serving as a new anterior surface of the eye and/or as a retainer for fluid between the cornea and the ... lens, ordinarily to correct for refractive errors of the eye.

There are two basic types of contact lenses: the scleral lens, which fits over the sclera (white) of the eye, and the corneal lens, which covers only the cornea.

Glass master: The first step in the CD replication process. A large glass disc which is coated with a photosensitive material is bombarded with laser light to encode the data. The glass master is then exposed and developed to create a "father".

El disco de vidrio está recubierto de una capa fotorresistente. Esta operación dura alrededor de 90 minutos. Cuando el disco ya se encuentra grabado se procede a su metalización con una capa de níquel, de la que, a través de un tratamiento electrolito, se obtiene un total de tres planchas. La última de ellas es llamada matriz, que pasa por un control de comprobación de errores. Si en algún lado se encuentra alguna falla el proceso deberá iniciarse de nuevo.
