Worldwide, most illicit crops are cultivated by smallholders. In many frontier regions, the elevated price of illicit crops offers economic promise for cultivators displaced from other (licit) smallholder activities; when smallholders are pushed onto poor quality land or have been otherwise criminalized, the most viable livelihood option (in some regions the only option) may be to cultivate relatively lucrative and hardy illicit crops that can grow quickly and in a wide range of conditions. 2, record 1, English, - illicit%20crop

2, record 1, Spanish, - cultivo%20il%C3%ADcito

An area of economics concerned with the analysis of situations in which perfect competition does not prevail throughout the economy, or, for some reason, the state of the economy which would result from a perfectly competitive equilibrium cannot be achieved. 4, record 2, English, - theory%20of%20second%20best
Record number: 2, Textual support number: 1 OBS
The most important proposition of the theory is that, if some part of the economy does not attain the perfectly competitive equilibrium position, e.g. because of monopoly, it need not be optimal for any other sector of the economy to attain that position. Rather, optimality may require that the other sectors of the economy adopt positions which diverge from the perfectly competitive one. 4, record 2, English, - theory%20of%20second%20best

1, record 3, Spanish, - proletariado
Record number: 3, Textual support number: 1 OBS
1, record 3, Spanish, - proletariado
