The primary aim of the Tobin Tax, first proposed ... by Professor James Tobin ..., is to reduce exchange rate volatility. A uniform international tax payable on all spot transactions involving the conversion of one currency into another, in both domestic security markets and foreign exchange markets, the Tobin tax would, in theory, discourage speculation by making currency trading more costly. 1, record 1, English, - Tobin%20Tax

2, record 1, French, - taxe%20Tobin

One interpretation of the timing of the generations is that they relate to the underlying business cycle of capital equipment purchase, the Juglar cycle originally identified in the nineteenth century (Juglar 1889) and apparent as a definite eight year cycle through to the current times (Lewis 1978). The peaks in the Juglar cycle correspond to our eight year boundaries from 1940 through 1980; the USA statistics show the 1964 peak as being in 1967 due to purchases to support the Viet Nam war but the next peak is in 1972 on target showing the dominating effect of world trade cycles rather than national events (Van Dujin 1983). 2, record 6, English, - Juglar%20cycle

3, record 6, French, - cycle%20Juglar
