Esto produce el secado anticipado de las hojas. Inicialmente las lesiones se observan de tipo acuoso, luego toman un color castaño claro en el centro, rodeada por un anillo de color marrón, púrpura o negro con un halo amarillo y apariencia de un ojo. Los síntomas también se observaron en vainas foliares, tallos y espigas.

It is produced by the refraction of light through the 90° prisms of ice crystals, having entered through the horizontal bases and passed out through the vertical sides. Normally, the crystals are large, oriented, hexagonal plates. The circumzenithal arc is the high sky counterpart of the circumhorizontal arc. The circumhorizontal arc is low in the sky when the sun is high (above 58° elevation); the circumzenithal arc is high in the sky when the sun is low (below 32° elevation). The majority of circumzenithal arcs are short-lived, short in length and faint or moderately bright. However, very colorful circumhorizontal arcs can occur when the refraction is close to the minimum angle of deviation, corresponding to a solar elevation angle of about 22°.

Lowitz arcs are short arcs showing pale colours, which extend diagonally upward and downward from the parhelia to the 22°-halo. They are visible at just very few occasions. The halo is called Lowitz Arc because Thomas Lowitz was the first who observed and described these arcs in 1794 at St. Petersburg.

The arcs of Lowitz are explained by refraction through the 60° prism of hexagonal plate ice crystals, oscillating as they descend. The principal axis of the plate must oscillate about the vertical by less than 30° to produce the pattern customarily called Lowitz arcs; larger oscillations lead to more complex arcs spreading far above and below the 22° parhelia and halo.

Any one of a large class of atmospheric optical phenomena (luminous meteors) that appear as colored or whitish rings and arcs about the Sun or Moon when seen through an ice crystal cloud or in a sky filled with falling ice crystals.

The halos experiencing prismatic coloration are produced by refraction of light by the ice crystals, and those exhibiting only whitish luminosity are produced by reflection from the crystal faces.

The type of halo formed can give information about the type of ice crystals present. Haloes may also be seen in midlatitudes and are normally formed by high, thin clouds.
