OBS

ESA, the European Space Agency, provides a vision of Europe's future in space, and of the benefits for people on the ground that satellites can supply. It also develops the strategies needed to fulfill the vision, through collaborative projects in space science and technology.

OBS

The European Space Agency was formed from the union of ESRO (European Space Research Organization) and ELDO (European Launcher Development Organization) in 1975. The head office is in Paris. Created through European cooperation, each member country donates funds to each project. As yet there has been no independent ESA manned mission, but the agency uses the US Space Shuttle to conduct experiments in space, and is developing an orbital laboratory for the International Space Station.

La ESA también trabaja en estrecha colaboración con organizaciones espaciales no europeas, de modo que toda la humanidad pueda beneficiarse de las ventajas del espacio.

The success of fire-retardant paints depends on one of the following: - Ability to produce nonflammable gases such as hydrochloric or hydrobromic acids, carbon dioxide, ammonia, or water vapor - Formation of glasslike melts from silicates, borates, or phosphates by the development of the porous, spongy layer characteristic of intumescent coatings - Absorption or utilization of heat in the process of sublimation to retard heat penetration to the substrate.

Some [fire retardant paints] rely solely upon their incombustible nature while those of the intumescent type swell on heating to form an insulating barrier.
