Tactical voting, also called strategic voting, is when voters cast an insincere ballot in order to increase their expected value for an election outcome. A common example of this behavior is when supporters of a minor party candidate vote for their favorite major party candidate, based on the impression that the minor party candidate is unlikely to win. 1, record 12, English, - strategic%20voting

Voter suppression is defined in the US Department of Justice manual for the prosecution of election offences as follows: "Voter suppression schemes are designed to ensure the election of a favored candidate by blocking or impeding voters believed to oppose that candidate from getting to the polls to cast their ballots. Examples include providing false information to the public – or a particular segment of the public – regarding the qualifications to vote, the consequences of voting in connection with citizenship status, the dates or qualifications for absentee voting, the date of an election, the hours for voting, or the correct voting precinct …" 4, record 13, English, - voter%20suppression

1, record 15, Spanish, - voto%20alternativo

(council procedure) ... "Division" is a method of voting used in some legislative bodies. It is taken by a show of hands, by yeas and nays, or by physically separating the members into two groups. ... In the United States, the term is sometimes used as a synonym of "standing vote". When using this method, members voting for and against the motion alternately rise and are counted by the presiding officer.

1, record 43, Spanish, - sistema%20mixto%20alem%C3%A1n
