Movimiento integrado por organizaciones sociales, redes temáticas y organizaciones sectoriales de todo el hemisferio americano, desde Canadá hasta Chile. Se conformó para intercambiar información, definir estrategias y promover acciones conjuntas. Su acción se centró en enfrentar la propuesta de creación del Área de Libre Comercio de las Américas, ALCA, y todas las diferentes modalidades del llamado libre comercio y de allí se concluyó la necesidad de buscar un modelo de desarrollo alternativo y democrático, fortalecer los movimientos sociales, trabajar por el bienestar de la población y el conjunto de derechos reconocidos en los diversos instrumentos internacionales vigentes, todo con miras a promover la justicia social y transformar las políticas de integración en el hemisferio.  1, record 2, Spanish, - Alianza%20Social%20Continental
