Los simulacros de emergencia son imitaciones o representaciones de posibles situaciones de peligro, emergencias o desastres que requieren una acción inmediata. En estos simulacros se busca recrear de una manera ficticia, las dificultades que se generarían en una situación real, ya sea causada por un incendio, una alarma de bomba, una inundación o terremotos, entre otros. Son también conocidos como ejercicios en vivo y varían desde ejercicios a pequeña escala, que analizan algún componente de la respuesta como una evacuación, hasta ejercicios a escala completa donde se evalúa toda la organización que responde a un incidente.
