In tissue engineering living cells are harvested, grown in the laboratory, often on an appropriate scaffold, and stimulated to form specific tissues that mimic the complex structures and physiological behaviour of natural tissues. A partir de ese momento, se empezó a trabajar en el área de Ingeniería de Tejidos y Biomateriales como un área de desarrollo importante para el grupo, ya que debido a que se busca aplicar principios científicos en el diseño, construcción, modificación, crecimiento y mantenimiento de tejidos vivos se presenta como una gran alternativa para el desarrollo de investigación que pueda llevar a productos o procesos que mejoren la calidad de vida en nuestra país.
