A l'issue d'un appel d'offre international, United Water Services Atlanta (Groupe Suez Lyonnaise des Eaux) a été sélectionné par la ville d'Atlanta (Georgie) pour la production et la distribution d'eau potable destinée aux 1,5 million d'habitants de l'agglomération. Cet accord, qui doit encore être approuvé par le Conseil Municipal d'Atlanta sera le plus important contrat de gestion déléguée jamais remporté aux États-Unis dans le domaine de l'eau potable. Ce projet comprend la gestion et la maintenance des usines de traitement d'eau de Hemphill et Chattahoochee ainsi que l'entretien de 4 500 km de réseaux. La ville doit encore déterminer la durée du contrat (10 à 20 ans).
