The cost functions used within predictive dynamics are similar to those used with optimization-based posture prediction. The goal of these functions is to drive the motion prediction based on minimizing factors, like energy and effort. This minimization must still adhere to all constraints specified for the particular motion. The distinguishing constraint of predictive dynamics is that it incorporates the general equations of motion. These equations describe the dynamics of our world, and attempt to solve for an unknown motion and the forces behind it.
