Si une chandelle est captée sans que la balle ne touche au sol et que le coureur a déjà quitté le but, il doit réintégrer ce dernier sans être touché de la balle par un joueur adverse, sans quoi il est retiré. Le vol de but est interdit sur ce type de jeu.

Au baseball, le terme «coureur» signifie «coureur sur les buts». Ne pas confondre avec le coureur en athlétisme.
