CORRELACION POSITIVA [4 records]

Record 1 2007-11-26

English

Subject field(s)
  • Statistical Methods
DEF

A correlation in which an increase in one variable is associated with an increase in the other variable.

CONT

Arsenic-bearing minerals are common [in vein-type gold deposits], but not always present; where they are present, a strong positive correlation generally exists between gold and arsenic.

OBS

In the case of a positive correlation the coefficiency of correlation has plus values, ranging from 0 to 1.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Méthodes statistiques
CONT

English

Subject field(s)
  • Meteorology
DEF

The (limited) tendency for existing weather conditions to persist.

OBS

It [tendency] is reflected by the positive correlation between successive values of most meteorological elements when arranged in their order of occurrence.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Météorologie
DEF

Record 3 2002-02-15

English

Subject field(s)
  • Climatology
  • Ecology (General)
CONT

Nanoclimate or epiclimate is the climate ... on the surface of leaves, in the air cavities in litter, along the slopes of an ant hill, or in the fissures in rocks. Nanoclimate extends vertically a few centimeters, or perhaps a decimeter and extends horizontally for centimeters. Studies of nanoclimate are important for ecophysiology and population ecology of very small organisms.

CONT

Many microbial inhabitants (algae, fungi, cyanobacteria, heterotrophic bacteria) of the Ross Desert have been isolated in culture for use in experimental laboratory studies. These cultures are maintained in the Culture Collection of Microorganisms from Extreme Environments. The nanoclimate (the climate in the millimeter range, the environment of microorganisms) was continuously monitored for six years by automated satellite-mediated weather stations.

CONT

English

Subject field(s)
  • Hydrology and Hydrography
DEF

Tendency of a hydrological process or time-series to recur or continue. There is a positive correlation between successive values when arranged in the order of their occurrence.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Hydrologie et hydrographie
DEF

Spanish

Campo(s) temático(s)
