In chromatography the solid poching or support material, which may be in powder, gel or sheet form.

OBS

In a wider sense, "stationary phase" also refers to the immobile phase in all forms of chromatography.

The solid support itself should not be identified with the stationary phase.

CONT

In gas chromatography, helium, hydrogen, nitrogen, or some other inert gas is employed as the mobile phase. With gas-solid chromatography, a stationary phase of an adsorptive solid, such as carbon, alumina, or silica, either is packed in the column as small particles or is coated on the inside wall as a film. Retention, in either case, is by weak adsorptive forces between the solute molecules and adsorptive sites on the solid material.

La phase stationnaire est un échangeur d'ions, c'est-à-dire un support solide comportant des groupements fonctionnels ionisés, porteurs de charges positives ou négatives, et des ions de signe contraire assurant l'électroneutralité. Ces ions sont échangeables, en nombre équivalent, avec ceux de même signe de la solution avec laquelle l'échangeur est mis en contact.

En chromatographie classique sur colonne, la phase stationnaire est en général constituée par de l'eau et comme phase mobile, on choisit des solvants organiques toujours moins polaires.

Ne pas confondre avec phase stationnaire de la croissance de cellules.
