A floating exchange rate system in which some government intervention still takes place. A government may announce that it will let its currency float, that is, it will let the currency's value be determined by the forces of supply and demand in the market. However, the government may secretly allow its central bank to intervene in the exchange market to avoid too much appreciation of the currency (hurts exports) or too much depreciation (increases inflation). 5, record 8, English, - dirty%20float

Widely used process for separating various mineral species in an ore, by developing specific aerophilic or aerophobic qualities on surfaces of finely ground particles in an aqueous pulp, which is then aerated. The aerophilic particles cling to air-bubbles, rise and form a froth which is skimmed off, while the aerophobic (or hydrophilic, or indifferent) ones remain wetted and flow away as a stripped "tailing." 2, record 12, English, - froth%20flotation

6, record 15, French, - floc

Hydrometer methods are based on the same principle as pipette methods [for grain size analysis by means of settling velocity.] The density of a suspension (and thus its solid matter content) is measured at given intervals after initiation of sedimentation with a hydrometer inserted into the suspension. ... The hydrometer method is not very accurate because of errors in reading the hydrometer, displaced particles, disturbance of the sedimentation process by the insertion and removal of the hydrometer, etc. Hence this process is but rarely used in sedimentological investigations. 1, record 43, English, - hydrometer%20method

Under a managed float or a fixed exchange rate system, whether or not capital inflows create inflationary pressures will depend on whether the inflows reflect an upward shift in the money demand function - that is, an increase in money demanded for each interest rate level - or are due to other factors, such as a drop in international interest rates or an increase in the domestic productivity of capital. 4, record 47, English, - fixed%20exchange%20rate%20system

1, record 47, Spanish, - sistema%20de%20tipos%20de%20cambio%20fijos
