Techniques d'agglutination. Plusieurs techniques d'agglutination existent pour la détection des entérotoxines staphylococciques : hémagglutination, coagglutination et agglutination passive reverse de particules de latex. Il existe deux procédures d'hémagglutination, passive et reverse passive. Brièvement, les dilutions de l'échantillon à analyser sont ajoutées dans les puits et réagissent avec l'anticorps. Des entérotoxines érythrocytaires sont ensuite ajoutées et s'agglutinent avec les anticorps libres. L'agglutination se produit alors si l'échantillon ne contient pas d'entérotoxines. La méthode reverse passive est utilisée quand les anticorps ne s'agglutinent pas avec les globules rouges. L'anticorps est couplé avec des globules rouges de mouton et un deuxième anticorps est ajouté pour s'agglutiner à l'entérotoxine.
