The name given to a group of persons (tribe, clan, people) relating to the group's human characteristics (ethnic, language, nationality).

OBS

The same term can be used for both an ethnonym and an inhabitant name. For example, "French" could be considered an inhabitant name referring to an inhabitant of France (country) and an ethnonym designating an ethnic group in any country that speaks French.

"Acadian", "French" and "Huron" are examples of ethnonyms.

Un etnónimo es el nombre de un pueblo o una comunidad nacional o regional. Los etnónimos pueden ser autónimos, es decir el nombre que un pueblo usa para referirse a sí mismo(por ejemplo, los habitantes de Costa Rica se llaman a sí mismos costarricenses, o los de la Gran Bretaña con la palabra inglesa British) o exónimos, es decir, el nombre que les dan otros pueblos en su respectivo idioma. Por ejemplo, los habitantes de Alemania se refieren a sí mismos con la palabra alemana Deutsch(autónimo), mientras que los hispanohablantes los llaman alemanes, los anglohablantes Germans, etc.(exónimos). La mayoría de los países ha derivado de sus autónimos un gentilicio oficial, es decir, un adjetivo que identifica o designa a sus nacionales(por ejemplo, panameños, griegos, filipinos, etc.) y que habitualmente cuenta con una versión aceptada en español.

SICOFAA is the acronym for the System of Cooperation among the American Air Forces. Its membership is voluntary and totally apolitical. Its main purpose is to promote and strengthen the bonds of friendship prevalent in the Air Forces of the American Continent, members of the System, as well as to achieve the mutual support among them through their cooperation to act jointly when directed to do so by their respective governments. Currently, the System has 18 American Air Forces: Argentina; Bolivia; Brazil; Canada; Chile; Colombia; Dominican Republic; Ecuador; El Salvador; Guatemala; Honduras; Nicaragua; Panama; Paraguay; Peru; United States of America; Uruguay and Venezuela. In addition, there are six observer countries in the System: Belize, Costa Rica, Guyana, Haiti, Jamaica and Mexico. The member Air Forces have the right to voice and vote, while the observer countries can only voice their concerns but have no vote. SICOFAAs official language is Spanish.

SICOFAA es el apócope del Sistema de Cooperación entre las Fuerzas Aéreas Americanas.
