Record number: 1, Textual support number: 2 DEF
A type of ammunition in which the propelling charge is contained in fabric bags and does not use a cartridge case, therefore obturation becomes a function of the breech mechanism. It is loaded separately; the fuzed projectile is rammed, seating it securely in the bore; the bags containing the propelling charge are adjusted as required and placed in the chamber; finally, the breech is closed and the primer is inserted in the firing mechanism. This type of ammunition is always used in breech loading guns. 3, record 1, English, - separate%20loading%20ammunition

Record number: 1, Textual support number: 2 DEF
4, record 1, French, - munition%20%C3%A0%20charge%20s%C3%A9par%C3%A9e
