(council procedure) ... "Division" is a method of voting used in some legislative bodies. It is taken by a show of hands, by yeas and nays, or by physically separating the members into two groups. ... In the United States, the term is sometimes used as a synonym of "standing vote". When using this method, members voting for and against the motion alternately rise and are counted by the presiding officer. Record number: 3, Textual support number: 1 OBS
2, record 3, French, - vote
