World Youth Day (WYD) is an annual gathering of Catholic young people, created by Pope John Paul II in 1984 "to consolidate the ordinary youth ministry by offering new encouragement for commitment, objectives which foster ever greater involvement and participation" (Letter from Pope John Paul II - Seminar on WYD 1996). It is celebrated on a diocesan level annually, and at a week-long international level every two to three years at different locations, attracting hundreds of thousands of youths from almost every country on the planet. 1, record 1, English, - World%20Youth%20Day

La Journée mondiale de la jeunesse (JMJ) est un évènement organisé par l'Église catholique rassemblant des jeunes catholiques du monde entier. La Journée mondiale de la jeunesse a lieu en fait chaque année, elle est célébrée dans chaque diocèse du monde le Dimanche des Rameaux, avec généralement un petit rassemblement à Rome. Tous les deux ou trois ans, un grand rassemblement international a lieu, à l'invitation du pape, dans une ville différente, et dure alors plusieurs jours.
