National Museum of Canada: Name changed in Jan. 1927 from the Victoria Memorial Museum to the National Museum of Canada. On Apr. 1, 1968 an act was promulgated to establish a corporation for the administration of the national museums of Canada (National Museums of Canada). Under this corporation the National Museum of Canada ceased to be and its work is continued and augmented by the National Museum of Man, the National Museum of Natural Sciences, the National Museum of Science and Technology, the National Gallery of Canada, the Canadian War Museum, the National Aeronautical Collection, and the Canadian Conservation Institute.

Victoria Memorial Museum: Name changed in 1920 from the Museum of the Geological Survey of Canada, although the name Victoria Memorial Museum appeared on some publications before that date. Name changed again January 1927 to National Museum of Canada.

Musée national du Canada : Nom changé en janvier 1927 de Musée commémoratif Victoria à Musée national du Canada. Le 1er avril 1968, une loi a été promulguée pour établir une corporation pour l'administration des musées nationaux du Canada (Musées nationaux du Canada). Sous cette corporation le Musée national du Canada a cessé d'exister et ses tâches sont continuées et augmentées par le Musée national de l'Homme, le Musée national des sciences naturelles, le Musée national des sciences et de la technologie, la Galerie nationale du Canada, le Musée de la guerre, la Collection aéronautique nationale et l'Institut canadien de conservation.
