A particle that can induce an immune response against a virus by mimicking its external structure, but that cannot cause infection since it does not contain the viral genome.

CONT

VLPs are composed of viral structural proteins that, when expressed in recombinant systems, form multiprotein structures mimicking the organization and conformation of authentic native viruses but lacking the viral genome.

Les particules pseudo-virales (PPV) constituent une avenue prometteuse pour le développement de vaccins. Ces structures multiprotéiques reproduisent l'organisation et la conformation de virus natifs authentiques; elles sont donc reconnues facilement par le système immunitaire. Exemptes de matériel génétique viral, elles sont non infectieuses et incapables de se reproduire.

Las partículas similares a virus (VLP) se parecen a los virus en su estructura y organización pero, al estar desprovistas de material genético vírico, no son de naturaleza infecciosa. Las tecnologías basadas en estas partículas han permitido desarrollar un buen número de las vacunas profilácticas disponibles en el mercado.
