Un lambeau chirurgical est un morceau de tissu (peau, muscle, os, graisse, etc.) qui a été séparé de ses attaches au reste du corps, sauf celles qui contiennent le réseau de fines canalisations permettant au tissu d'être alimenté en oxygène contenu dans le sang. Ces attaches restantes nécessaires (le pédicule) peuvent être une bande de peau, un muscle, ou seulement des vaisseaux sanguins. Le fait d'avoir séparé du corps ce morceau de tissu, lui donne une mobilité, qui peut permettre d'atteindre une zone distante ou il existe un manque tissulaire (mutilation chirurgicale après cancer, zone brulée etc.).
