Ce sont les bruits dus à l'état de la mer: l'agitation de l'eau de la surface, le ressac, les précipitations, le gel; les bruits biologiques émis par les animaux marins; les séismes et explosions. On dit aussi "bruit ambiant de l'océan" , en y ajoutant le bruit lié aux activités humaines, trafic maritime, industrie.
