L'effet thermique des aliments (ETA) consiste en une hausse de la consommation d'énergie associée à la consommation d'aliments. Les processus de digestion et d'absorption de l'apport alimentaire nécessitent de l'énergie, au même titre que le métabolisme et le stockage éventuel des nutriments sur l'ensemble du corps. On estime que l'ETA correspond à environ 10 % du total de la dépense énergétique quotidienne lorsqu'une alimentation variée est consommée.

The Trans-Pacific Partnership [was] a free trade deal aimed at further expanding the flow of goods, services and capital across borders. [Members pledged] to "enlarge the framework of relations among the Parties through liberalizing trade and investment and encouraging further and deeper cooperation to create a strategic partnership within the Asia-Pacific region."

The Trans-Pacific Partnership could not enter into force because the United States withdrew its signature in January 2017.

Canada joined the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP), along with Mexico, on October 8, 2012.
