"Tribunal" is more often used in a literary way, or with reference to a non-judicial body appointed to adjudicate on some disputed question. Juridiction d'un magistrat ou de plusieurs qui jugent ensemble; ensemble des magistrats qui composent cette juridiction; lieu où ils siègent. «Tribunal» est un terme générique tandis que «cour» s'emploie de façon plus spécifique. En France, une «cour» est un tribunal d'ordre supérieur et «tribunal» désigne surtout les juridictions inférieures du premier degré. Il semble cependant qu'on ne fasse pas la même distinction au Canada puisqu'on parle de la «cour municipale» aussi bien que de la «cour d'appel», et la Loi des tribunaux judiciaires du Québec dénomme un seul tribunal mais plusieurs cours. 7, record 1, French, - cour

Quelle que soit la raison de [l'] usage abusif qui tend à généraliser l'emploi du mot «cour» au détriment de tout autre terme, le bon usage de la langue juridique contemporaine demanderait que l'on réserve «cour» aux juridictions supérieures (et aux juges siégeant en audience : «la Cour») et «tribunal», en tant que générique, à l'ensemble des juridictions : les tribunaux du Québec ou du Canada. Solutions Traduire «Courts» et «courts and tribunals» par le générique «tribunaux».
