The creation of the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA), in April 1997, brought together inspection and related services previsouly provided through the activities of four federal government departments - Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, Fisheries and Oceans Canada, Health Canada and Industry Canada. En créant l'Agence canadienne d'inspection des aliments (ACIA) en avril 1997, le gouvernement du Canada a regroupé l'inspection et des services connexes qui étaient assurés auparavant par quatre ministères - Agriculture et Agroalimentaire Canada, Pêches et Océans Canada, Santé Canada et Industrie Canada.
