NOAA AHVRR allows for a family of satellites upon which flood monitoring and mapping can almost always be done in near real time. L'instrument ASAR [Advanced Synthetic Aperture Radar] apporte des réponses très positives sur la problématique de la cartographie des inondations, notamment avec son mode de fonctionnement en polarisation alternée, produit à haute et moyenne résolutions spatiales. [...] Concernant la cartographie des inondations en particuliers, la phase de l'onde radar pourrait apporter des éléments supplémentaires pour infirmer ou confirmer la présence d'eau, mais nécessiterait d'importants développements pour être utilisable en temps rapide pendant la crise.
